Patna : Top seed and reigning Olympic champion Carolina Marin, 27, Spain, and 2nd seed & Olympic silver medallist P V Sindhu, 25, India, will clash in the final of Yonex Swiss Open 2021, an HSBC BWI World Tour Super 300 badminton tournament at St Jakobshalle Basel, Basel, Switzerland, on March 7, 2021.
Marin, a three-time former World Champion, beat 3rd seed Pompawee Chochuwong, 23, Thailand, in a three-game thriller 21-15, 20-22, 21-19 in 76 minutes in semi-finals on March 6, 2021. Carolina won 62 rallies in the match to 56 by Chochuwong. The Spainiard won 5 consecutive points in the match to 4 by Chochuwong. Carolina now leads Chochuwong 8-1 Head to Head.
Sindhu, the 2019 World Champion, beat 4th seed Mia Blichfeldt, 23, Denmark, in first semi-finals 22-20, 21-10 in 43 minutes.
