Patna : Top seed and reigning Olympic champion Carolina, 27, Spain, demolished 2nd seed & olympic silver medallist P V Sindhu, 25, India, in just 35 minutes in final to win the women’s singles title at the Yonex Swiss Open 2021, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300 badminton tournament, at St Jakobshalle Basel, Basel, Switzerland, on March 7, 2021, night.

World No 3 Carolina Marin, a three-time ( 2014, 2015 & 2018) former World Champion, crushed 2019 World Champion & World No 7 P V Sindhu in straight games 21-12, 21-5 in a one-sided match. Carolina was all over Sindhu in both the games particularly the second game. The Spainiard won 42 rallies during the match to just 17 by Sindhu. She won 8 consecutive points during the match to 3 by Sindhu. Carolina now leads Sindhu 9-5 Head to Head.

Carolina won 7,000 BWF rankings points plus $10,500 prize money for the winning the women’s singles title. Runner-up Sindhu got 5,950 rankings points plus $5,320 prize money.
