Carolina beats Sindhu to enter SFs of Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2019

Patna : Reigning Olympic and World champion Carolina Marin, 25, Spain, beat World No 3 and Olympic silver medallist P V Sindhu, 23, India, to enter the semi-finals of BWF Daihatsu Indonesia Masters on January 25, 2019. World No 4 Carolina Marin beat Sindhu in straight games 21-11, 21-12 in the quarter-finals at Istora, Senayan, Jakarta, Indonesia, in 37 minutes on January 25.

Carolina, the 5th seed, won 42 rallies in the match to 23 by Sindhu, the second seed. She also won 6 consecutive points during the match to 4 by Sindhu. Carolina now leads Sindhu 8-6 head to head.

Carolina, the three-time world champion, will play World No 5 Chen Yufei, the 3rd seed, who beat World No 8 Ratchanok Intanon, Thailand, 14-21, 21-9, 21-15 in the QFs, in the semi-finals on January 26, 2019. World No 9 Saina Nehwal, India, will face World No 7 HE Bingjiao, China, in the semi-finals.
