Bettiah (West Champaran) : The forest  officials on October 3, 2020, found carcass of a Bear lying in Tirhut Canal under  Madanpur Forest Range in Valmiki Tiger Reserve  (VTR) in West Champaran District in North Bihar . The carcass was noticed during the routine patrolling by a team of  forest workers.

Gaurav Ojha, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), VTR, Div- 2, ruled out the possibility of  poaching as body parts of the Bear were found  intact. Under what circumstances the Bear died would not be known immediately without getting the post-mortem report, he  added.        The Valmiki  Tiger Reserve  and Wildlife Sanctuary  is located on Indo-Nepal border in West Champaran District on the bank of river Gandak.
