Muzaffarpur : Paddy sidlings grown in over one hundred acre have been submerged following breach in a canal passing through village Jagiria Basra Kaji in Khaira Panchayat under Jaitpur police outpost (OP) in Muzaffarpur district on July 5, 2017, late night.

The water level of rivers Bagmati and Kosi is also rising creating panic among the villagers, who alleged that despite repeated requests the engineers concerned had not plugged the breach in the canal embankment.They have threatened to launch an aggressive agitation is the breached canal embankment is not repaired immediately.

Executive Engineer, Canal Division, Tirhut, Vinod Kumar, Canal would have breached due to excess water and it would be repaired soon. Several farmers including Amarjit Kumar, Manohar Sah and Law Sah said that the Canal had grown weak over the years but the engineers did not strengthen it.

Meanwhile, Muzaffarpur Dharmendra Singh has directed all the engineers and Block Developments Officers (BDOs) to remain alert and ready to tackle any situation caused due to flood, if any.
