Buxar : Police arrested mother-in-law of Hemanti Devi,35, and also girlfriend of her husband for allegedly killing her and her two minor children by setting them ablaze at village Jaigawa  under Buxar Muffasil police station and produced them before a Buxar Court on January 11, 2021. Later, they were sent  to jail under judicial custody.

Hemanti Devi’s mother had lodged a named FIR with  Buxar Muffasil police station against her husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law,  also the girlfriend of the her husband in this connection. Police are conducting raids to arrest the husband and the father-in-law of  Hemanti Devi.

SHO, Buxar Muffasil police station, Manoj Kumar said that Hemanti Devi, wife of Upendra Bind, her four month son and six year old daughter Ragini Kumari were burnt alive when they were sleeping in their room at Jarigawa Bind Toli under the police station in the wee hour on January 9, 2021. After the incident, Upendra Bind and his brother escaped from the village.

The SHO further said that the mother of the deceased had lodged a named FIR against four persons including Upendra Bind,his , mother, and his girlfriend .In the FIR, Hemanti Devi’s mother had alleged that Upendra Bind had extra-marital relation with a woman of the village which his daughter always protested. Both always had fought over the issue but the matter was settled at village panchayat on January 7, 2021. She also alleged that Upendra Bind himself set ablaze Hemanti Devi and two children alive and escaped. She added that Hemanti’s 7 year old daughter survived as she was sleeping with her in another room.
