Buxar : Police arrested three miscreants on December 6, 2020, in connection with murder of son of a former Mukhia at Karhansi village under Muffasil police station in Buxar district. The murder took placeĀ  in connection with election of Mukhia scheduled to be held between March and May next year.

The arrested miscreants were identified as Ajay Kumar Razak, 21, son of Mehi Lal of Kotawa village under Narayanpur in Balia, Uttar Pradesh, Sheru Yadav, 22, son of Kameshwar Singh of Trilochanpur under Rajpur police station, and Krishna Kumar alias Mahakal, 20, son of Shiv Jee Yadav of Devdhia village under Rajpur police station in Buxar district.

Buxar SP Neeraj Kumar Singh said that at least eight unidentified armed miscreants shot dead Digvijay Singh alias Jhanjhan Singh, son of a former mukhia Dharmraj Kumar Singh alias Munna Singh of Kahransi village under Buxar Muffasil police station on December 1, 2020. After institution of an FIR, he formed an SIT under the SDPO Gorakh Ram.

The police team investigated the matter and also conducted raids at different places and arrested three miscreants with a countrymade pistol, two live cartridges, four mobile phones, and a motorcycle used in the crime. During investigation, it came to light that Digvijay Singh alias Jhanjhan Singh was allegedly killed at the behest of an inmate of Buxar Jail, Sandeep Yadav, of Noniyapur village, the SP added. He said that the police are conducting raids to arrest the remaining accused.

The SP stated that Buxar Jail inmate Sandeep Yadav wished to get his mother elected in the next Mukhia election uncontested and so he allegedly got Digvijay Singh killed by his aides to instill fear in the mind of people so that no one could dare contest election against his mother.
