Buxar DM orders probe into open burning of expired drugs

Buxar: Expired medicine in huge quantity were burnt on the campus of Buxar Sub-Divisional Hospital on May 7, 2017, causing suffocation to the people in the adjoining areas. Buxar DM Md Momin Ansari took serious note of the matter and ordered an inquiry into it on May 7. He said burning of medicines in the open is against law and is a crime. He added that some rules had been framed for destroying the expired medicine and the rules should be followed strictly.

Sources said that the medicines were to be distributed among pregnant women and poor people but the hospital management did not distribute the same among them and finally their shelf life expired in 2015 and 2016.
