Buxar DM orders probe into beating up of school students

Ara  : An incident of beating up of some students at Gauri Shankar Middle School, Buxar, on April 13, 2017, after confining them into a room for not completing their homework has come to light in Buxar district. Buxar Town Police did not take action even after lodging of complaint in this connection. When a woman Rita Devi went to know the reason for the punishment given to her daughter, some teachers allegedly also locked her into a room and beat her up.

Buxar DM described the incident as unfortunate. An inquiry has been ordered into it and guilty teacher will not be spared, the DM said.

Reeta Devi informed police that her daughter Nishi Kumari, a Class VII student at Gauri Shankar Middle School, Buxar, had been given homework along with all the students but some students including Nishi did not complete the homework. At this the teachers beat the students concerned in which Nishi Kumari was injured. Headmistress, Gauri Shankar Middle School, Prabha Devi, said that Hindi teacher Vijay Kumar had punished some students for not completing homework but she denied Reeta Devi too was beaten up. She instead alleged that Reeta Devi had misbehaved with the teachers.
