Busta, Tsitsipas, reach semi-finals of ATP Barcelona Open 500

Patna : World Number 11 in Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings Pablo Carreno Busta, 26, Spain, stunned World Number 5 Grigor Dimitrov, 26, Bulgaria, 6-3, 7-6, in the quarter-finals to enter the semi-finals of ATP Barcelona Open 500 event. In another massive upset, World Number 63 Stefanos Tsitsipas, 19, Greece, a former junior World Number 1, beat World Number 7 Dominic Thiem, 24, Austraia, 6-3, 6-2, to enter the semi-finals of the Barcelona Open.  Thiem had reached the final of the tournament in 2017 but had lost to Rafael Nadal, 31, Spain.

World Number 1 and top seed Rafeal Nadal, 31, Spain, was leading World Number 140, Martin Klizan, 28, Slovakia, 1-0 after the first set in another quarter-finals on April 27, 2018. Nadal won the first set 6-0. In the second set, Klizan was leading 3-2.

Klizan had shocked former World Number 1 Novak Djokovic, 30, Serbia, 6-2, 1-6, 6-3, in the second round on April 25, 2018. Before this match, Djokovic was leading Klizan 4-0 head to head. Djokovic was given a wild card for the tournament.
