Muzaffarpur : Nawal Kishore Gupta alias Pappu Gupta, husband of Kanti Nagar Panchayat chairperson Shobha Gupta, had a narrow escape when unidentified criminals fired at his business establishment located at Purana Chowk, Kanti, under Kanti police station in Muzaffarpur district around 8.15 pm on March 23, 2017. But, the bullet  hit Mohan Gupta, son of another trader Prabhu Gupta, and he was admitted to a Muzaffarpur hospital. Mohan Gupta was standing outside his shop. Pappu Gupta is a big grain dealer and chairman of PACS, Kanti.

All the shops in Kanti market remained closed till noon on March 24 in protest against March 23 night firing. SHO, Kanti police station, Raghunath Prasad, said that though many shops were closed on March 24 morning but later they opened. The SHO said that the criminals involved in the firing were yet to be arrested though raids were on to arrest them. The firing at the shop of a businessman has triggered panic among the local businessmen.
