Gopalganj: A bus driver Ramtapasya Singh was thrown down from Dumariya Bridge under Mahamadpur police station late on November 29 evening. He was rushed to Motihari Sadar Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries late on the same night.
Locals said that Dumariya bridge over river Gandak is in dilapidated condition often leading to traffic jam. They said that on November 29 evening, Singh, driver of Laxmandoot bus, was on way to Siwan when he saw drivers of two trucks fighting with each other on
the bridge. The fighting led to massive jam on the bridge. Eyewitnesses said that when Singh went to intervene, both truck
drivers threw him down from the bridge. He fell on sand near the river.
The fishermen in the river informed Khajuriya police station in East Champarn district about the incident and a police team led by Khajuriya ps SHO Shambhu Kumar reached there and admitted the injured driver to Motihari Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased was a native of Bhavani Mathiya village under Sangrampur police station and he was driving a bus belonging to Laxman
Choudhary of Meerganj in Gopalganj. Raids were on to arrest the truck drivers, police said.
