Motihari : East Champaran DM Shirshat Kapil Ashok on July 15, 2020, said  that the flood situation has improved  in the district as the
water of rivers Bagmati, Lalbakeya, and its tributaries that entered some  areas under 10 blocks in the district was receding fast with rains  stopping for the time being. But, river Burhi Gandak was flowing above the danger mark at Lalbegiya ghat  on July 15.  The water of Burhi
Gandak has spread over to low lying areas in 27 villages under nine gram panchayats under Banjariya block .

The flood waters has  entered the official building of Banjariya block  and Circle Offices. The hilly rivers like Tilawe and Bangari are also   in spate and playing havoc in this area  saince July 14, 2020. Mani Kumar Verma, CO, Banjariya, said  the flood water has spread over to Kukurjari, Beladih, Khairi, Sundarpur, Siswaniya , Gobari Jatawa, Janerawa, and Ajagarwa, and over topped the  Chailaha –Siswaniya road.These villages  have been cut off from the  district headqarters Motihari.. The Banjariya block  office is located 4 km north of Motihari.

As per sources in Staste Water Resources  Department, the water level of  rivers Bagmati and Lalbakeya has receded. .Chandradeo  Prasad, District Agriculture Officer(DAO), said  the flood water has spread over to agriculture fields damaging partially the transplanted paddy  in around 30,000 acres under 14 blocks in East Champaran.

The worst affected villages are Patahi, Dhaka, Ramgarhwa, Sigauli, Narkatiya, Madhuban, Fenehara where the low lying areas remain waterlogged.
