Muzaffarpur : The water of swollen Budhi Gandak has entered eastern and western parts of Muzaffarpur Town, headquarters of Tirhut Division in North Bihar breaking a bridge at Rohua  under Musahari block in Muzaffarpur district. The flood water started entering eastern and western parts of Muzaffarpur at 1am on August 22, 2017. It is also entering Bihar Military Police (BMP) 6 area. The flood water is also flowing over Muzaffarpur – Sheogar road. Muzaffarpur district administration has closed all the schools under Musahari block.

On the other hand, the river has breached a Ring Bund at Gurhmi under Bochaha block in the district. Just two days back, Budhi Gandak had breached Rajbara embankment under Musahari block inundating many areas under Musahari, Bochaha and Mennapur blocks affecting a population of 1.5 lakh in a radius of 20 km and likely to start flowing over Muzaffarpur – Pusa road soon. The flood water is also threatening to inundate Bela area of Muzaffarpur town.  It has already entered Sikkandarpur area in northen side of the town. The NDRF and SDRF teams ae carrying out rescue operation on war footing.

Muzaffarpur DM Dharmendra Singh and SSP Vivek Kumar are camping at Musahari. The DM has urged the flood affected people to move to safer places.
