Patna : Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on February 8 evening announced cancellation of the examinations conducted by Bihar staff selection commission (BSSC) conducted last week.  Nitish told mediapersons after the weekly cabinet meeting that the government acted on the recommendations of the chief secretary Anjani Kumar Singh. DGP P K Thakur, in his preliminary report submitted to the chief secretary, had confirmed leakage of question papers well before the examinations. Three upcoming examinations scheduled by the commission have also been cancelled following arrest of BSSC Secretary Parmeshwar Ram and six other employees.

At a hurriedly convened press conference late February 8 evening, Patna SSP said the question papers had not leaked out from the government treasury where they were sent a day earlier, February 4. He said during investigations it has was found that  question papers and answer sheets were available in the market on January 29 while examination was conducted on February 5. Call detail records of mobile of Parmeshwar Ram confirmed his involvement in the crime. Describing the case as “complicated”, the SSP said some examinees also gave leads to the police during examinations.
