Motihari :The brutal murder of a private news channel Reporter Manish Kumat, 32, has created sensation in East Champaran District. Police have arrested two journalist in this connection. The assailants had gouged out even the eye of Manish.
Police on August 10, 2021, evening recovered decomposed body of missing journalist Manish Kumar, 32, from an agriculture land filled with rain water near Gaddi tola of village Math Lohiyar under Harsidhi police station (PS) in East Champaran District in North Bihar. The body has been sent to Sri Krishna Medical College Hospital (SKMCH), Muzaffarpur, for post-mortem and its report is awaited. This is the first case of murder of journalist in the district.

Bathuahiya under Paharpur PS, was missing since August 7, 2021, from Math Lohiyar village and a case of missing had been lodged with Harsidhi PS in this connection by his father Sanjay Singh, also a journalist. On August 10, 2021, evening, some villagers informed police that a body was lying in the agriculture field near Gaddi tola. Police recovered the body, the SDPO added.
According to police, the criminals had sliced Manish’s throat and dumped the body in a water body. After that Manish’s father Sanjay Singh lodged a case against 13 persons including two journalist in this regard. Manish Kumar on August 10, 2021, night, were arrested by police.
The bag and Identity card of slain journalist Manish Kumar was recovered from the house of one of the
arrested journalists. His bike was recovered from Gaddi Tola. The motive of the murder is yet to be ascertained,said SDPO Kumar.
Father of the slain journalist Sanjay Singh has said that a long pending land dispute in his village may be the reason behind the murder.
SDPO Santosh Kumar that police are investigating the case and all criminals would be arrested soon.
