Patna : Five time champion Brazil defeated  Mexico 2-0 in the Round of 16 match at Samara Arena, Russia, on July 2 to enter the quarter-finals of FIFA World Cup 2018. Brazilian superstar and Striker Neymar da Silva Santos Junior, 26, assisted by Willian scored the first goal for his country in the 51st minute. Roberto Fermino scored the second goal for Brazil on an opening created by Neymar.

Since the introduction of Round of 16 in 1986, Mexico have been eliminated at this stage seven times. Brazil had won the FIFA World Cup in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, and 2002. They had reached the semi-fnals in 2014 World Cup.
