BMP jawan shot at Bariarpur railway station in Munger, dies

Jamalpur: Criminals shot at a BMP jawan Saurabh Kumar on platform number 2 of Bariarpur railway station around  Thursday midnight after he got down from Jamalpur – Howrah superfast train. The incident triggered panic among the commuters. The place is 19 km east of  Jamalpur railway station in Munger district. He was taken to Munger sadar hospital where he was he was referred to PMCH by the doctor. But, he succumbed to his injuries on way to Patna shortly after  Thursday midnight.

Saurabh Kumar, native of Balia district in UP, was posted at BMP in Aurangabad district. He was deployed at Sultanganj in Bhagalpur district to  provide security to Kanwariyas who after collecting holy water from the river Ganga at Sultangaj, proceed towards Babadham, Deoghar. Railway police  superintendent, Jamalpur, Swapana G Meshram and Munger SP Ashish Bharti visited sadar hospital at Munger to see the injured BMP jawan. Railway police said that an identity card and a purse belonging to one Sujit Kumar Jha, believed to be of his colleague, was recovered from his   person during search after he fell down on the platform bleeding profusely.

It is believed that he was carrying some message of his colleague Jha to his family members at village Chirayabagh under Bariarpur police station. Jha is posted at the BMP, Aurangabad, said railway police sources. SHO, GRP, Jamalpur, Vidya Sagar has taken up the investigation of the case.
