Ara : Under the banner of Youth Hostel Association of India (YHAI),  Bhojpur Unit, a blood donation camp was organised on the campus of Red Cross Society of India (RCSI), Ara Chapter, on January 12, 2021, to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand as National Youth Day. The camp was inaugurated jointly by senior pediatrician Dr Vivekanand Yadav, President, YHAI, Dr S K Rungta, Chairperson, Dr Archana Kumari, founder member YHAI, Bijay Kumar Singh and Secretary, RCSI, Dr Bibha Kumari by cutting ribbon.

At least 26 persons donated blood on the occasion. Altogether 30 persons including three girls had registered their names for donation but four of them were not found fit for the blood donation.

Vishnu Shankar, Secretary, YHAI, Deepak Jain, Gurucharan Singh, Hemant Jain, Rajiv Nayan Agrawal, Rita Singh, Bibha Kumari, Secretary, RCSI, Anil Raj, Sunil Nayyar, Sarfaraj Ahmad, Unisha Kumari, Swati Kumari, Preven Kumar, Dharmendra Pandey, Praveen Kumar, Veer Bahadur Singh, Ranjeet Ram, Bhola Prasad, Indu Devi, Om Prakash, Krishna Shankar were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr S K Rungta appreciated the initiative of the YHAI and urged the people to donate blood so that lives of people requiring blood could be saved. He said that iron level in body is maintained while  several diseases like heart attack,, blood pressure, obesity, and increase in cholesterol level could be prevented by regular blood donation and so a healthy person in 18 – 65 year of age group and more than 45kg of weight must donate blood at least once a year. Anil Raj said that blood donation is not enough, we should also donate organs like lever, kidney, eyes for serving humanity.

Bijay Kumar said that prior to the blood donation BP, Haemoglobin, weight, HIV, Malaria, blood group, Hepatitis B and C of the donor was examined free of cost.
