Bokaro ( Jharkhand) : JMM President and former Jharkhand CM Shibu Soren alias ‘Guruji’, who had won from Dumka parliamentary constituency (PC) 8 times, bite the dust in the General Elections 2019 in the constituency suffering shock defeat at the hands of BJP nominee Sunil Soren as riding on ‘TsuNaMo’ NDA won 12 of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand . BJP candidate Sunil Soren defeated Shibu Soren by 47,590 votes. The BJP alone has won 11 seats while its ally AJSU won the Giridih seat. The NDA had also won 12 seats in 2014 General Elections.
Another former Jharkhand CM and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM-Prajatantrik) chief Babulal Marandi also suffered humiliating defeat in Koderma parliamentary constituency. BJP nominee Annapurna Devi, a former Minister who joined the BJP few months back, defeated Marandi by a massive margin of 4,55,600 votes in Koderma constitutency.
The JMM, a constituent of Mahagathbandhan, had contested four seats but could win only Rajmahal (ST) seat while its Mahagathbandhan ally Congress, which contested seven seats, wrested the Singhbhum (ST) seat from the BJP.
Senior BJP leader and former Jharkhand CM Arjun Munda won the Khunti (ST) seat beating his Congress rival Kalicharan Munda by a small margin of 1,445 votes. Union Minister and BJP candidate Jayant Sinha won by a huge margin of 4,78,209 votes to retain his Hazaribagh seat defeating his Congress rival Gopal Prasad Sahu. Union Minister and BJP candidate Sudarshan Bhagat defeated his Congress rival Sukhdeo Bhagat by 10,363 votes to retain his Lohardaga (ST) seat.
AJSU candidate and Jharkhand Minister Chandraprakash Choudhary won Giridih seat defeating his JMM rival Jagannath Mahto by 2,48,347 votes. In Ranchi, BJP nominee Sanjay Seth defeated former union minister and Congress candidate Subodh Kant Sahay by 2,83,026 votes. Sitting MP and BJP nominee Nishikant Dubey defeated his JVM (Prajatantrik) rival Pradip Yadav by 1,84,227 votes in Godda PC. In Jamshedpur, sitting MP and BJP nominee Bidyut Baran Mahto retained his Jamshedpur seat defeating JMM candidate Champai Soren by a huge margin margin of 3,02,090 votes.
Sitting BJP MP and former Jharkhand DGP Vishnu Dayal Ram retained his Palamu (SC) seat defeating his RJD rival Ghuran Ram by a huge margin 4,75,284 votes. Sitting MP and BJP nominee Sunil Kumar Singh defeated his Congress rival Manoj Kumar Yadav by 3,77,871 votes to retain his Chatra seat. In Dhanbad, sitting BJP MP Pashupati Nath Singh defeated his Congress rival and former cricketer Kirti Azad by a huge margin of 4,86,194 votes.
Sitting JMM MP Vijay Kumar Hansda defeated BJP nominee Hemlal Murmu by 99,195 votes to retain his Rajmahal (ST) seat.
Congress nominee and wife of former Jharkhand CM Madhu Koda, Gita Koda, defeated sitting BJP candidate Laxman Gilua by 72,155 votes from Singhbhum (ST) seat.
