Motihari : The flood situation in two panchayats under Ckakiya Block in East Champaran District in North Bihar continues to be grim even as the turbulent Burhi Gandak has started receding. Hundres of villagers in Baisaha panchayat have left their houses and taken shelter on NH28 Motihari-Muzaffarpur Road under plastic tents.
On August 9, 2020, the Mahatma Gandhi Champaran Satyagrah Shatabdi Samaroh Ayojan Samiti started community kitchen at Baisaha. It was inaugurated by BJP MP and former Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh. Hundreds of women and children were provided free meal while the children were given milk. Dr Lalbabu Prasad, Secretary of the Samiti, Shyam Babu Yadav, MLA, Harjit Singh, Rohit Singh, and other social workers served food to the flood victims. Earlier, East Champaran district administration was running community kitchen here but it was closed on August 8, 2020.
On the day of Prithwi Diwas on August 9, 2020, Radha Mohan Singh, MP, inaugurated a Gandhi Paudhshala at Jiwdhara near NH28A and transplanted a sapling of Parijat.
