Patna: Bihar BJP president Mangal Pandey on Thursday formed four inquiry committees to probe communal violence during Durga Puja and Muharram in different parts of the state. Two of these committees would be headed by leader of opposition in Bihar assembly Prem Kumar, one by the chief whip of party in Bihar assembly Arun Kumar Sinha and another by senior party leader Vijay Kumar Singh. These committees would tour the affected areas from October 21 and submit their respective reports report on October 24.
Pandey alleged that during the two religious programmes, police had committed atrocities on the members of the majority community everywhere. The affected districts are: Madhepura, Purnia, East Champaran, Bhojpur and Gopalganj. The members of the committees include presidents of the BJP’s districts unit and local legislators.
Meanwhile, former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Thursday visited Muzaffarur and met the class 12 dalit student of Kendriya Vidyalaya who was assaulted by some students of the same school. He assured security to the student and his parents and also promised his shifting to other Kendriya Vidyalaya, if he so desired.
