Patna: Patna Police arrested Dharmendra Kumar and his associate Chandan in connection with the murder of one Bittu Kumar, whose body was found from a pond at Adalatganj on December 7. Bittu had a tea-stall at Mandiri. Patna Senior SP (SSP) Manu Maharaaj said that family members of Bittu Kumar had on December 6 informed Buddha Colony police that Bittu, who had gone to attend a marriage ceremony, had not returned. He said that later Bittu’s body was recovered from a pond at Adalatganj under Kotwali police station and an FIR was lodged with the Buddha Colony police station in this connection.
The SSP said that he had directed DSP (Law & Order) and local SHO to crack the case immediately. He said that after analysing mobile call details, the cops came to know that Bittu had recently gone to Begusarai with one Dharmendra Kumar, who was missing after that.
The SSP said that the police also came to know that some friends of Dharmendra were working with him as contractors and later detained his two associates- Dilip Kumar and Chandan-for interrogation. He said that Dilip told the police that on December 3, Dharmendra had gone to Ranchi after taking some amount from him. The SSP said that police teams were carrying out raids to arrest Dharmendra and came to know that he was spotted near Kathpul in Mandiri. He said that a police team reached there and arrested him.
The SSP said that Dharmendra told the police that he had recently gone to Begusarai with Bittu for some work there where he sodomised Bittu and gave some cash to him promising more cash to him at Patna. He said that Dharmendra told the police that after reaching Patna, Bittu started demanding more money. Agitated over his repeated demands, Dharmendra called Bittu at night and murdered him and dumped his body at Adalatganj, the SSP said adding that after that Dharmendra had escaped to Ranchi and before that he had told his friends Dilip and Chandan about the killing.
