Bikramganj auditorium in poor shape

Sasaram : Ajit Auditorium under Bikramganj sub-division of Rohtas district is in very poor shape due to indifferent attitude of the district administration. The officials do not know who has to be look after the auditorium: district administration or Nagar Panchayat.

The auditorium was constructed in 2007 with the MPLAD fund of the then MP Ajit Kumar Singh and was inaugurated on December 26, 2009. The auditorium was constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 40 lakh. Since then almost the important events were organized at this auditorium. Neither the officials of Rohtas district administration nor that of Nagar Panchayat know who is the custodian of the auditorium. It is also not known as to whom the contractor handed over the auditorium after construction. Some private firms are using it for their advertisements.

Suresh Kumar, Executive Officer, Bikramganj Nagar Panchayat, admitted that the auditorium is in poor shape but  said that he was not its custodian. He added that sub-divisional administration had planned its renovation and a junior engineer from Sasaram had prepared DPR for its renovation at an estimated cost of Rs 20 lakh.
