Hajipur : Around eight criminals riding three bikes, in a daring act, looted about Rs 47 lakh cash from Kanchanpur branch of Axis Bank under Vidupur police station in Vaishali District in North Bihar in broad daylight after making the bank employees and customers captive at gun point on January 28, 2021.
Vaishali SP Maneesh, a 2013 batch IPS officer, while confirming the incident, said that police were looking into the CCTV footage of the area to identify the criminals involved in bank dacoity. He said that CCTV footage had been collected and police teams were conducting raids to nab the criminals. The SP said that the bank employees did not press the alarm bell to alert police. He said that the criminals had hidden their firearms inside their jackets. The SP said that the bank security guard was not present at the time of cash loot by the criminals.
Dhananjay Kumar ,SHO, Bidupur police station, said that this incident occurred at 12.30 pm when the security guard of the bank was not present. This Axis bank branch is located on Hajipur-Mahnar road, 14 km away from Hajipur, headquarters of Vaishali District. Gaurav Kumar, a Cashier of the bank, said that 7 criminals entered in branch and asked the employees to surrender the keys of safeB. Thereafter, they looted the cash and escaped.
