Describing the flood situation in Bihar as completely under control, Jha said that barring Darbhanga District in North Bihar particularly Hayaghat other districts remained safe even as several engineers of the department had tested positive to COVID-19 pandemic. The Minister said that Kosi, Mahananda, and Kamlabalan zones remained safe this year.

WRD Minister Jha said that COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown and movement restrictions including social distancing notwithstanding, the department succeeded in completing around 88 anti-erosion schemes in 2020 overcoming manpower shortage and problems in movement of materials. He said that the department had to take special permission to move materials from Chhattisgarh and Faridabad (Haryana) factories getting them re-opened. Lockdown was enforced on March 24, 2020, Jha added.

The Minister said that Gandak caused only minor damage in Gopalganj and East Champaran Districts in North Bihar even as there was unprecedented discharge from Nepal side.
