Patna : Bihar Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal on June 28, 2020, requested the people to assist road accident victims without any hesitation telling them police can’t make them a witness in such cases forcibly.
Agarwal said that Bihar Road Safety Council has printed provisions related to Good Samartian on tin-plate boards and is fixing them at important places in all the 38 districts of the state so that the people do not face any problem from police and hospital administration while assisting accident victims.
The Transport Secretary informed that if the accidents victims are rushed to hospital on time and given proper treatment, their lives can
be saved. He said that several times people do not come to help accident victims fearing police harassment.
Such people need not fear, Agarwal pointed out and added for that the people should be aware of provisions regarding Good Samartians helping accident victims. Agarwal said that for providing information and creating awareness among the people, guidelines have been printed and sent to districts on 2,000 tin plates for installing them at important places in the first phase in all 38 districts.
He informed that in the first phase these tin-plates would be installed at important places including DM office, SDPO offices, SDO offices, Block offices for creating awareness among the people.
