Patna : With the exponential growth of virus continuing, a total of 5,022 more persons tested positive for Covid-19 in Bihar including 2,018 in Patna on January 8, 2022, taking the tally of Active cases recorded so far in the state to 16,897 on January 9, 2022, up from 12,311 Active cases a day before. A total 4,526 persons had tested positive for Covid-19 in the state on January 7, 2022. IGIMS, Patna, has reported 27 Omicron cases.
The 5,022 new Covid-19 cases included 2,018 in Patna, 258 in Gaya, 209 in Muzaffarpur, 200 in Samastipur, 133 in Jehanabad, 125 in Begusarai, 123 in Nalanda, 121 in Saran, 114 n Darbhanga, 102 in Vaishali, 91 in Munger, 90 in Lakhisarai, 88 in Bhagalpur, 84 in Madhubani, 83 in Saharsa, 79 in Rohtas, 74 in Jamui, 74 in Katihar, 73 in East Champaran, 73 in Bhojpur, 71 i n Madhepura, 69 in Nawada, 67 in Sitamarhi, 63 in Purnia, 53 in Aurangabad, 51 in West Champaran, 50 in Siwan, 50 in Banka, 43 in Supaul, 43 in Arwal, 39 in Kishanganj, 37 in Kaimur, 36 in Gopalganj, 29 in Araria, 26 in Buxar, 22 in Sheikhpura, 13 in Khagaria, and 3 in Sheohar, and 45 persons from outside Bihar, according to State Health Department figure.
Bihar has so far recorded 7,45, 400 Covid-19 cases of which 7,16,401 patients have recovered including 435 in last 24 hours with the recovery rate (RR) dropping to 96.11 % on January 9, 2022. The State tested 1,96,909 samples on January 8, 2022. Bihar reported 1 new death due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours taking the toll to 12,101 in the state
Meanwhile, Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey inspected 110 bed Covid centre for patients at Patliputra Sports Complex, Kankarbagh, Patna, on January 9, 2022.
