Patna : Active cases shot up to 44,700 in Bihar including 12,531 in Patna on April 18, 2021, as 8,690 more persons including 2,290 from Patna, 753 from Gaya, 383 from Saran, 376 from Bhagalpur, 353 from Aurangabad, 248 from Siwan, 246 from East Champaran, 237 from West Champaran, 237 from Begusarai, 235 from Muzaffarpur, 230 from Munger, 219 from Saharsa, 204 from Buxar, and 198 from Purnia, tested positive for Covid-19 on April 17, 2021.

The new 8,690 cases cases also include 197 from Jehanabad, 184 from Rohtas, 171 from Vaishali,  167 from Nalanda, 148 from Katihar, 130 from Bhojpur, 128 from Samastipur, 122 from Nawada, 117 from Madhubani, 106 from Khagaria, 99 from Kaimur, 88 from Kishanganj, 85 from Jamui, 83 from Madhepura, 81 from Sheikhpura, 80 from Supaul, 77 from Arwal, 75 from Lakhisarai, 61 from Sitamarhi, 59 from Araria, 59 from Darbhanga, 40 from Banka, 32 from Gopalganj, and 17 from Sheohar.

With it, the number Covid-19 cases recorded so far in Bihar rose to 3,24,117 on April 18, 2021, of which 2,77,667 patients have been declared cured including 3,460 in last 24 hours with the recover y rate (RR) further dropping to 85.67% on April 18 from 86.93% on April 17, 2021. Bihar has tested 2,52,46,439 samples so far including 1,00,604 samples on April 17, 2021.

The Covid-19 toll jumped to 1,749 in Bihar on April 18, 2021, with 27 new deaths being recorded in the state in last 24 hours including 9 in Patna, 4 in Bhagalpur, 2 in Darbhanga, and 1 each in Jehanabad, Munger, Muzaffarpur, East Champaran, West Champaran, Madhepura, Saharsa, Samastipur, Katihar, Banka, Gopalganj, and Purnia.

With it, the toll climbed to 511 in Patna, 106 in Bhagalpur, 63 in Munger, 58 in Muzaffarpur, 57 in East Champaran, 48 in Darbhanga, 38 in Samastipur, 32 in Jehanabad, 29 in Banka, 27 in West Champaran, 26 in Purnia, 19 in Madhepura, 19 in Katihar, 16 in Gopalganj, and 14 in Saharsa, on April 18, 2021.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on April 18, 2021, reviewed Covid-19 situation in the state with all the DMs and SPs through video conference from CM Secretariat. Health Minister Mangal Pandey was also present during the meeting.

All the schools, colleges, coaching institutions, and other educational institutions will remain closed till May 15, 2021. No board and university examinations will be held during the period. All shops will close at 6 pm while all government and private offices will close down at 5 pm. All Cinema Halls, Shopping Malls, Swimming Polls, Stadiums, Gym, Parks, and gardens remain closed. The decisions to this effect were taken at the meeting of Crisis Management Group (CMG).

The government had also decided to enforce Night Curfew from 9 pm to 5 am in the state. This will, however, not apply to Bus, Train, and Air Passengers. Dinner at restaurants and dhabas has been prohibited. But, home delivery has been allowed till 9 pm. All religious places will remain closed till May 15, 2021.
