Patna : Active cases surged to 23,724 in Bihar including 8,466 in Patna on April 14, 2021, as 4,786 more persons including 1,483 from Patna, 334 from Gaya, 334 from Bhagalpur, 242 from Muzaffarpur, 166 from Bhojpur, 128 from Jehanabad, 122 from Aurangabad, 117 from Saran, 112 from Samastipur, 107 from Katihar,  105 from Gopalganj,  105 from Begusarai, 103 from Saharsa, 97 from Buxar, 97 from West Champaran, 97 from Munger, and 92 from East Champaran, tested positive for Covid-19 on April 13, 2021. A Cabinet Minister of Bihar Government and two Additional Chief Secretary rank IAS officers have also tested positive for Covid-19.

The new cases also included 88 from Siwan, 69 from Rohtas, 60 from Sitamarhi, 58 from Siwan, 58 from Purnia, 57 from Vaishali, 48 from Arwal, 47 from Supaul, 47 from Madhubani, 47 from Madhepura, 44 from Nawada, 40 from Sheikhpura, 29 gfrom Nalanda, and 24 from Darbhanga.

With this, the number of Covid-19 cases recorded so far in Bihar rose to 2,95,171 of which 2,69,795 patients have been declared cured including 1,189 in last 24 hours with the recovery rate (RR) further dropping to 91.40% on April 14 from 92.50 % on April 13, 2021. Bihar has so far tested 24843640 samples including 1,00,134 samples on April 13, 2021.

In an alarming development causing concern to the authorities, Bihar recorded 21 new deaths in last 24 hours including 4 in Patna, 4 in Bhagalpur, 2 in Jamui, and 1 each in Vaishali, Samastipur, Munger, Muzaffarpur, Nawada, East Champaran, Siwan, Khagaria, Banka, Gaya, and Darbhanga. With it, the toll increased to 479 in Patna, 96 in Bhagalpur, 67 in Gaya, 59 in Munger, 55 in East Champaran, 53 in Muzaffarpur, 52 in Vaishali, 41 in Darbhanga, 39 in Siwan, 36 in Samatipur, 30 in Nawada, 25 in Banka, 15 in Khagaria, and 12 in Jamui,
