Patna : Active cases jumped to 1,13,479 in Bihar including 20,487 in Patna on May 5, 2021, as 14,836 more persons tested positive for Covid-19 in the state on May 4, 2021. Bihar had logged 14,794 new Covid-19 cases on May 4, 2021. The state also recorded 61 new deaths in last 24 hours taking the tally 2,987 in the state on May 5, 2021.
The new 14,836 Covid-19 cases included 2,420 from Patna, 857 from Vaishali, 671 from Nalanda, 655 from West Champaran, 635 from Samastipur, 631 in Sheikhpura, 587 from Gaya, 574 from Muzaffarpur, 570 from Katihar, 528 in Saran, 477 from Begusarai, 444 from Aurangabad, 385 from Madhubani, 373 from Bhagalpur, 362 from Supaul, 305 from Gopalganj, and 247 from Madhepura.
With the addition of 14,836 new cases, the number of Covid-19 cases recorded so far rose to 5,38,677 in Bihar on May 5, 2021, of which 422210 patients have been declared cured including 11,726 in last 24 hours with the recovery rate (RR) being 78.38%. The state has tested 2,68,81,766 samples so far including 95,248 samples on May 4, 2021, according to state health department figure.
The 61 new deaths recorded in the state in last 24 hours included 17 from Patna, 8 in Muzaffarpur, 5 in Madhubani, 4 in West Champaran, 4 in Bhagalpur, 3 in Nalanda, 3 in Samastipur, 2 in Madhepura, 2 in Nawada, 2 in Saran, 2 in Sitamarhi, 2 in Darbhanga, and 2 in Banka.
The Covid-19 death toll climbed to 862 in Patna, 212 in Bhagalpur, 175 in Muzaffarpur, 132 in Nalanda, 112 in Darbhanga, 108 in West Champaran, 91 in Munger, 84 in Saran, 70 in Vaishali, 60 in Madhubani, 59 in Siwan, 58 in Samastipur, 54 in Banka, 45 in Madhepura, 39 in Supaul, and 33 in Sitamarhi, on May 5, 2021.
