Patna : With the alarming increase in new cases continuing, Active cases jumped to 2,222 in Bihar including 1,250 in Patna on January 4, 2022, up from 1,385 on January 3, 2022, as 893 more persons tested positive for Covid-19 January 3, 2022. On January 2, 2022, 344 persons had tested positive for Covid-19 in the state. Bihar, however, did not report any new death due to Covid-19 in last 24 hours with the toll still standing at 12,096 in the state on January 4, 2022. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on January 4, 2022, held the meeting of Crisis Management Group to review the Covid situation in the state.
Bihar has recorded 7,28,766 Covid-19 cases so far of which 7,14,447 patients have recovered including 56 in last 24 hours. But, the recovery rate (RR) of patient further dropped to 98.03% on January 4, 2022, from 98.15% on January 3, 2022, due to alarming spike in new Covid cases . The state has tested 6,14,42,021 samples so far including 1,44,675 samples on January 3, 2022. Altogether 1.5 lakh children in 15-18 years age group were administered Covid vaccine in Bihar on January 3, 2022.
The new893 Covid-19 cases included 565 in Patna, 99 in Gaya, 47 in Muzaffarpur, 14 in Munger,12 in Darbhanga, 11 in Jamui, 10 in Samastipur, 10 in Vaishali, 8 in Jehanabad, 7 in Nalanda, 7 in Bhojpur, 6 in West Champaran, 6 in Madhepura, 6 in Supaul, 6 in Begusarai, 6 in Bhagalpur, 5 each in Kishanganj, Aurangabad,, 4 each in East Champaran, Nawada, Rohtas, and Sheohar, 3 each in Katihar, Saharsa, Saran, and Sitamarhi, 2 each in Khagaria, Purnia, Madhubani, 1 each in Araria, Arwal, Banka, and Buxar, and 8 from outside state, according State Health Department figure.
