Patna : Active cases further dropped to 16,235 in Bihar including 2,016 in Patna on May 31, down from 18,377 the previous day, as only 1,113 more persons tested positive for Covid-19 in the state on May 30, 2021. Bihar recorded 59 new Covid-19 deaths in last 24 hours taking the tally to 5,163 in the state on May 31, 2021. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients further improved to 96.97% in the state on May 31 from 96.67% on May 30, 2021.
Bihar Government on May 31, 2021, extended the lockdown period till June 8, 2021, after reviewing the Covid-19 situation across the state. The state, on the other hand, received 1,000 Oxygen Flow Meter from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation on May 31, 2021.
The 1,113 new Covid-19 cases included 164 in Patna, 62 in Gopalganj, 56 in Muzaffarpur, 55 in Begusarai, 55 in Katihar, 49 in Nalanda, 49 in Supaul, 47 in Madhubani, 44 in Purnia, 41 in Samastipur, 37 in Saharsa,29 in Araria, 29 in West Champaran, and 25 in Darbhanga. The state has tested a total of 2,99,10,596 samples so far including 1,01,033 samples on May 30, 2021. Of the 7,06,761 Covid-19 cases registered so far in Bihar, altogether 6,85,362 patients have been declared cured including 3,196 in last 24 hours.
The 59 new deaths due to Covid included 8 in Purnia, 7 in Mdhubani, 5 in Siwan, 4 in Samastipur, 4 in Begusarai, 3 in Araria, 3 in Supaul, 3 in Saran, 3 in West Champaran, 3 in Lakhisarai, 2 in Patna, 2 in Rohtas, 2 in Nawada, 2 in Vaishali, and 2 in Bhojpur.
With this, the Covid-19 toll climbed to 1,203 in Patna, 319 in West Champaran, 264 in Bhagalpur, 235 in Nalanda, 193 in Saran, 183 in Darbhanga, 140 in Madhubani, 140 in Siwan, 139 in Rohtas, 137 in Munger, 131 in Begusarai, 123 in Vaishali, 102 in Bhojpur, 100 in Nawada, 100 in Samastipur, 70 in Araria, 70 in Supaul, 66 in Purnia, 49 in Arwal, 40 in Lakhisarai.
