Patna : Bihar received 54,900 vial of Covishield vaccine from Serum Institute of India (SII), Pune, Maharashtra,  on January 12, 2021. Health Minister Mangal Pandey received the Covishield vaccine vials at Patna Airport. The first phase of Covid-19 vaccination will start in Bihar from January 16, 2021.

Meanwhile, the Covid-19 cases recorded so far in Bihar rose to 2,57,335 on January 12, 2021, afternoon, as 344 more persons including 135 from Patna and 31 from Begusarai tested positive for the pandemic on January 11, 2021..

According to State Health Department figure, 13 persons each from Muzaffarpur and Jehanabad, 12 from Rohtas, 10 from Banka, 9 each from Aurangabad, Bhojpur, Nawada, and Samastipur, 8 from Bhagalpur, 7 each from Saran and Vaishali, 6 each from Darbhanga, Khagaria, Madhubani, Nalanda, and Siwan, and 5 from Gaya, also tested positive for Covid -19 on January 11, 2021.

Of the 2,57,335 Covid-19 cases recorded in Bihar so far, altogether 2,51,858 patients have been declared cured including 214 in last 24 hours with the recovery rate (RR) being 97.87%. The number of active cases in Bihar was 4,033 on January 12, 2021. The state has tested 1,94,56,871 samples so far including 95,347 samples on January 11, 2021.

The Covid-19 toll climbed to 1,443 in Bihar on January 12, 2021, with 4 new deaths being recorded in last 24 hours including 2 in Patna and 1 each in Saran and Purnia. The toll increased to 400 in Patna on January 12, 2021.
