Patna : Bihar government has set up Education Finance Corporation to disburse loans for Students Credit Card (SCC) scheme. It would start providing loans from the next financial year, said CM Nitish Kumar said in Bihar legislative assembly on March 6, 2018. He also announced that a research centre on Ganga Dolphin, which have been declared the national aquatic animal, would be set up in the state.
The Education Finance Corporation would provide funds up to Rs 4 lakh to a student to pursue higher studies, the CM said while intervening in reply to a question. The gross enrolment ratio for higher studies in Bihar is 13.9%. The students’ credit card scheme was launched to raise this to at least 20 %, the CM said.
