Patna:  CM Nitish Kumar on Monday announced state government decision to recommend CBI probe into the murder of Rajdev Ranjan, Bureau chief of Dainik Hindustan at  Siwan. He said the demand has come from the family of late Rajdev.

Asha Devi, wife of Rajdev, was most vocal on demand for CBI investigation as she alleged people were being arrested on charges of violating prohibition laws and not in murder of her husband. As family members of Aditya Sachdeva of Gaya are satisfied with the investigation by state police, there was no need for CBI investigation in that case, Nitish said at his weekly Janata Darbar

Even after CM announced CBI probe, Asha regretted even the SP of Siwan was not responding to repeated  calls made by her family. Siwan police is not impartial, she alleged and held a local Bahubali (musclemen ) responsible for the murder of her husband.

Nitish said he had asked the DG of police to talk to the parents of Aditya whether they too wanted CBI probe. When senior officers of police and administration met them on Saturday, they reportedly told the police that they were satisfied with state police investigation.

The CM said no one will be allowed to go free .He was reacting to a question on absconding  JD(U) MLC Manorama Devi, mother of Rocky Yadav, main accused in the Aditya murder case. Police are making searches and raids to trace her. There is no laxitity on the part of the police.

The chief minister claimed there was rule of law (kanoon ka raaj) and not jungle raj as alleged by opposition leaders and two senior RJD leaders-Md Tashalimuddin ,MP, and former union minister Raghuwansh Prasad Singh. They are attacking me just for cheap publicity, the CM said and added said the BJP,LJP,RLSP and HAM(S) leaders were attacking him as they were still  not able to reconcicle with the fact they lost miserably in the assembly elections. Success of his prohibition drive  has  unnerved the opposition, Nitish said and claimed he too was disturbed with the murder of the journalist.”Murder of journalist is an attack on me,” he said.

Refuting the charge that crime has increased since he returned to power in November last year  in alliance with the RJD, Nitish said,” There is more crime in the BJP ruled states and in the centrally controlled Delhi.” Describing his prohibition campaign as a step towards great social reform, the CM said he was committed to prohibition though the liquor lobby too was engaged in spreading misinformation about rising crimes.”Media is presenting a wrong picture about law and order in Bihar,”he allleged
