Patna : Noted Bollywood actor Shashi Kapoor died on December 4, 2017, evening, at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai. He was 79. He was suffering from kidney problem for the past few years. He is survived by two sons:  Karan Kapoor and Karan Kapoor, and daughter Sanjana Kapoor. All his children have acted in films.

Son of famous theatre and film personaliry Prithviraj Kapoor and younger brother of Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor had acted in film ‘Aag’ in 1948 and in ‘Awaara’ in 1951 as a child actor.

He made his debut as a leading man in ‘Dharmputra’ in 1961 and acted in over 170 films including ‘Deewar’, ‘Kabhi Kabhi’, ‘Namak Halal’, ‘Kala Pathhar’, ‘ Trishul’ , ‘Shaan’, ‘Silsila’ ‘Sharmilee’, ‘Aa Gale Lag Ja’, ‘Jab Jab Phool Khile’, ‘Fakira’,’ Roti Kapda Aur Makan’ and ‘Junoon’. He was conferred on Padma Bhushan in 2011. He also received Dada Saheb Phalke award in 2015. ” Mere Psas Maa Hai’ is Shashi Kapoor’s unforgettable dialogue from film ‘ Deewar’.

Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik mourned Shashi Kapoor recalling his contribution to films and theatre. Shashi Kapoor was a complete actor.
