Patna : Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on August 24, 2017, visited flood hit areas Araria district in Eastern Bihar including Raniganj. Nitish visited a floof relief camp under Raniganj block. Nitish had visited flood affected areas of Katihar and Purnia on August 23. During his Katihar visit on August 23, Nitish said that this month almost 600 mm rainfall was recorded in two days alone in the state and underlined the need of drainage system. Nitish also visited flood affected parts of East Champaran on August 24.

PM Narendra Modi will make aerial survey of flood affected districts of Bihar on August 26. The flood has so far claimed 367 lives in 19 districts including 80 in Araria district followed by Sitamarhi and West Champaran districts with 36 each, Katihar 35, Madhubani 24, Kishanganj 23 and Darbhanga 22, and Madhepura, East Champaran and Gopalganj with 19 each and Supaul 15.
