Patna : The State Cabinet on December 4, 2018, gave go ahead for charging just a token fee of Rs 100 for registering ancestral properties after division. The Bihar Cabinet also decided to ban the use all types of plastic carry bags irrespective of their size and thickness in all Gram Panchayats across the state.
A senior Bihar Government official said that the State Cabinet gave its approval to a proposal of Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department to charge a token amount of Rs 100 for getting the ancestral properties registered after division. The fee of Rs 100 consists of Rs 50 each for registration and Rs 50 for stamp fee. At present, 5% of the total value of the properties are required to register divided properties, he said. It is a welfare measure which help reducing the number of cases arising out of the land disputes among legitimate shareholders, he added.
The production, import, storage, transport, sale and use plastic carry bags will be banned after 60 days from the date of gazette notification, a senior official said. All traders and manufacturers of plastic carry bags and shop-owners, vendors, vegetable sellers will have to dispose of their plastic carry bags within 60 days failing which violators – common users or businessmen – will be penalised, he added.
