Patna : Naomi Osaka, 21, Japan, stays World No 1 with 5,991 points in WTA rankings released on March 18, 2019, despite failing to defend her Indian Wells Masters 1,ooo title this year at California, USA. Bianca Andreescu, 18, Canada, on the other hand, has jumped 36 places to be ranked World No 24 with 1,913 points after winning the Indian Wells Masters title defeating three-time Grand Slam champion Angelique Kerber, 31, Germany, in the final. Osaka had lost in the 4th round of Indian Wells Masters in 2019.
Petra Kvitová, 29, Czech Republic, has jumped place to be ranked World No 2 with 5,550 points even as she lost in the second round of Indian Wells masters. Simona Halep, 27, Romania, has slipped one place to be ranked World No 3 with 5,457 points. Angelique Kerber has jumped 4 places to be ranked World No 4 with 5,315 points.
Elina Svitolina, 24, Ukraine, has jumped one place to be ranked World No 5 with 5,225 points after reaching the SFs of Indian Wells Masters.
