Patna : Bihar Human Rights Commission (BHRC) on Tuesday issued a notice to MD, South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL), Patna, asking him to depute his nodal officer to appear before the Commission  on November 9, 2016, before the commission with report regarding compensation and medical assistance  provided  so far to an injured electric mechanic Diwali Kumar Chaudhary.

Pankaj Kumar Chaudhary, son of  Mahendra Chaudhary, of  Laxmanpur Koyari Tola under Alamganj police  station in Patna district, had complained  to BHRC that  his brother  Diwali Kumar Chaudhary, an electric mechanic  working  with SBPDCL was repairing a  transformer  on October 1, 2016, near New Azimabad, Alamganj,  on instructions from  the call centre. He had informed his Junior Engineer Dhananjay Kumar on his official mobile  through his  official mobile for a shut down.  After  the shut down was confirmed,  he started working on the transformer. But, the electric supply was restored without informing him due to which he was badly burnt and fell on the ground and is  under treatment at Ashoka Hopital, Rajendra Nagar, without any assistance/help from the department.

The BHRC has also asked for report regarding compensation and medical assistance provided so far to the injured  electric mechanic and administrative action taken against the officer responsible for the incident, according to BHRC member Neelmani.
