Ara : A named FIR has been lodged by Charpokhari police station (PS) in Bhojpur District in South Bihar against nine persons for assaulting some Sikh pilgrims near Dhyani Tola under the police station on their refusal to give donation ( Chanda) to them. Sikh pilgrims were returning to Punjab from Patna by a truck after conclusion of Prakash Parv at Patna City. Police have taken four persons under custody for interrogation in connection with the incident.
At least 40 male and 20 female Sikh pilgrims were on the truck. When they reached near Dhyani Tola on Ara-Sasaram State Highway under Charpokhari PS, some hoodlums intercepted the truck and demanded ‘chanda’ from the truck driver Tazendra Singh for religious rituals going on in the area. When the driver refused, the hoodlums thrashed the driver and also those who came to his rescue injuring at least half a dozen pilgrims.
SHO, Charpokhari PS, Prashant Kumar, said that a named FIR has been lodged against nine persons and police have taken four persons under custody for interrogation in connection with attack on Sikh pilgrims.
