Ara  : Police recovered a kidnapped girl from village Asani in Bhojpur district on June 14, 2017, after nearly seven months. Police produced her before the court on June 15 to get her statement recorded under section 164 CrPC and also brought her over to Ara Sadar Hospital for medical examination after the court order.

SHO, Udwantnagar police station, said that the said girl of village Jaitpur-Mathia  under Udwantnagar police station had gone to her friend on November 21, 2016, but did not return  home. On November 22, 2016, her mother lodged a named FIR against Sanjay Rai of village Tajpur  in Samastipur district with Udwantnagar police station alleging he had kidnapped her daughter. Sanjay Rai frequently visited Jaitpur-Mathia village for agriculture work and came in contact with the girl.

The girl told police that her friend Radhika had introduced her to Sanjay Rai and both talked on mobile. On November 21, 2016, when Sanjay Rai came to her village, Radhika invited her to her residence and allegedly encouraged provoked her to elope. Sanjay Rai also promised to marry her and took her to Tajpur in Samastipur district the same day and kept her there at a house. Later, he refused to marry her and started outraging her modesty. He raped her twice daily and the ordeal continued for about seven months, the victim alleged. Finally, Sanjay dropped her at village Asani village from where police recovered her after getting information.

The SHO said that two groups of the villagers had clashed eight months ago in connection with kidnapping of the girl and also exchanged fire. On December 13, 2016, her family members had allegedly beaten to death father of her friend with traditional weapon. A named FIR was lodged with Udwantnagar police station and  police arrested four persons and forwarded them to jail at that time.
