Ara : Police, on a tip off, conducted raid at Zamira Bridge, Ara,  and arrested four miscreants in connection with murder of a businessman on December 23, 2021, night. Police also recovered a countrymade pistol, 17 live cartridges, and five mobiles phones from their possession.

The arrested miscreants were identified as Santosh Chaudhary, son Jogi Chaudhary of Dharahara; Sanoj Yadav, son of Shiv Dayal Yadav of Ahirpurva; Shiv Shankar Kumar, son of late Ram Deo Sah of Hanuman Tola, and Vikas Mahato, son of Birendra Mahto of Ibrahimnagar under Town police station (PS), Ara, in Bhojpur district.

Bhojpur SP Vinay Tiwari said that motorcycle borne armed miscreants had shot dead Mahadev Prasad, 62, son of late Dinanath Sah, in Ahirpurva locality under Ara Town PSpolice station on December 23, 2021, night, when he was returning home along with his wife after closing his shop located in Dharahara locality under the same police station. An FIR has been lodged with Ara Town PS against two unknown persons on the statement of Raju Sah, son of the deceased.

The SP said that after institution of FIR, he formed a police team under the SDPO to arrest the assailants. He said that police got information that some armed miscreants were hatching plan at Zamira Bridge to commit crime somewhere. The police team at once conducted raid and arrested five persons and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession.

The SP said that during interrogation, Santosh Kumar alias Santosh Chaudhary allegedly said that Mahadev Prasad had a shop in front of his house and he returned home daily with the money he earned on the day. And so he planned to loot him. To execute his plan, he and Shiv Shankar Kumar went on motorcycle while his other aides Manish Kumar and  Sanoj Yadav worked as liners. In their bid to snatch money bag from Mahadev Prasad, the motorcycle skid and Mahadev Prasad recognised him and so he shot him dead.
