Ara : Police on March 20, 2021, arrested a miscreant Upendra Rai alias Chamaku Rai from village Bhikhampur under Chauri police station (PS) Bhojpur District in South Bihar for allegedly demanding ‘rangdari’ (extortion amount) and also hatching plan to kill two persons including a former Bhojpur District Board member. Police also seized one Scorpio, an Alto car, one Platina motorcycle, a Passion Pro motorcycle, a countrymade pistol, and eight live cartridges from his possession.
An FIR was lodged by police in this connection and raids are being conducted to arrest other seven other miscreants. Bhojpur SP Har Kishore Rai said that he got information that some armed miscreants were hatching plan to commit crime after which he sent a police team to arrest them. When police reached village Bhikhampur, the miscreants fired on the police team and fled away from there . Police, however, arrested one of them.
The SP said that the miscreants had demanded rangdari from a former Bhojpur District Board member Lal Bihari Yadav and Lal Babu Yadav of village Laxmipur under Imadpur police station in Bhojpur District and had planned to take them to a sand ghat at village Kachhua village in Rohtas District to kill them but police got the information about it and foiled their plan.
