Ara: Bhojpur Police claimed to have busted a gang of extortionists after arresting a middleman from his residence at Arwal in connection with alleged realisation of money from drivers of sand laden trucks. The arrested middleman was identified as Ashok Yadav, brother of Dheeraj Yadav, President, Bihar Police Men’s Association. He is a resident of Mudaffarpur under Sahar police station (PS) in Bhojpur District and at present living at Arwal. Police also seized about Rs 7.64 lakh cash, a mobile phone, and WhatsApp chat from his residence at Arwal.
A named FIR had been lodged with Sahar police station against Ashok Yadav and SHO, Sahar PS, Anand Kumar on the statement of a truck owner Sanjay Yadav. Bhojpur SP Rakesh Kumar Dubey suspended the SHO Sahar police station with immediate effect after his name came to surface in connection with illegal realization of money from the truck drivers. The SHO is allegedly absconding since institution of the FIR.
Bhojpur SP Dubey said that three sand loaded of Sanjay Yadav of Lavkushpur village under Krishnagarh police station had proceeded from Rampur Vaina Ghat in Arwal to Danapur in Patna but the middleman of the police intercepted all the three trucks at Khaira Mor under Sahar police station and realized Rs 22,000 from the drivers threatening to slap heavy fines on the trucks though all the three trucks had all papers and chalans. Hee released the trucks after the drivers promised to pay the rest of the amount latter.
The SP further said that during investigation, the involvement of Ashok Yadav was found in the illegal realisation of money from trucks and it was also detected that SHO, Sahar police station, Anand Kumar, also allrgedly got part of the amount. The SP said that he formed a police team and sent it to Arwal to arrest Ashok Yadav and added that evidence of talk between of Ashok Yadav and SHO Anand Kumar was also gathered.
