Ara : With the arrest of one miscreant, police claim to cracked the murder of RJD leader Sourabh Raj alias Ravi Yadav of village Bhedari under Ayar police station (PS) in Bhojpur District in South Bihar nine months after the incident.

Police also recovered one magazine, a pistol, one regular rifle, 10 live cartridges of .765 caliber, and 25 live cartridges of .315 caliber used in the murder. The arrested miscreant was identified as Dharmdev Yadav alias Gajrai of village Ajamnagar under Gadhani PS in the district. Seven persons are said to be involved in the murder. Police are conducting raids to arrest the remaining accused on the revelation of arrested person. The arrested miscreant confessed his involvement in the murder. Love affair was said to be the cause behind the incident.

Bhojpur SP Vinay Tiwari said that Sourabh Raj alias Ravi Yadav, son of a former armyman Haridwar Singh, had contested panchayat election earlier and had gone to Gadhani to attend a ritual on December 23, 2020. He was returning home on his motorcycle the same evening but did not reach home and his body was found near Ramdiahara Bridge under Gadhani PS on December 24, 2020, morning. An FIR was lodged with the police on the statement of father of the deceased.

Taking serious note of the incident, Bhojpur SP formed a team under the SDPO Himanshu to crack the murder case. The police team following scientific research, arrested unnamed accused Dharmdev Yadav alias Gajrai from village Ajamnagar under Ayar PS, who during interrogation confessed his involvement in the murder and also revealed names of his aides. He said that Sourabh Raj alias Ravi Yadav was killed under well planned manner over his love affairs with a girl.

The SP stated that the arrested miscreant had been absconding in liquor case and the seized firearms allegedly belonged to Nirmal Yadav, husband of Block Pramukh, Zimmi Yadav,. He added that Nirmal Yadav had been arrested earlier and was released on PR bond.
