Ara : Police arrested five persons including an autorickshaw driver near New Police Line under Nawada police station, Ara, in Bhojpur district on July 29, 2020, for allegedly stealing of government rice. Police also seized 500 kg of  rice and an autorickshaw.

The arrested persons were identified as Arjun Kumar of Rampur Milki under Ara Muffassil police station, Gunjan Kumar of village Kuser  under Sandesh police station, Krishna Kumar of Anaith, Kariman Kumar of Chandawa Musahar Toli under Nawada police station, and Manoj Kumar of Bikramganj in Rohtas district. Arjun Kumar is an autorickshaw driver.

A named FIR has been lodged with Nawada police station against six persons including Jitendra Kumar, owner of the autorickshaw, of Badaka Gaon under Gajrajganj police outpost in Bhojpur district in this connection. Police sent all the arrested persons to jail after interrogation and are conducting raids to arrest the owner of the autorickshaw.

SHO, Nawada police station, said that he got information that some persons were carrying stolen government rice in an autorickshaw via New Police Line under Nawada police station. He immediately sent a police force there that launched vehicle checking drive. Police intercepted an autorickshaw and after searching it seized 10 bags of 50 kg each rice of Bihar State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Limited.

Police arrested all the persons on the autorickshaw including the driver and demanded papers of the rice but they failed to show them. The SHO said that during interrogation, they admitted that their gang had stolen rice from the government godown and sold them in the open market. They had stolen rice earlier too from the government godown.
