Bhojpur Police arrest BSP leader on kidnapping & rape charge

Ara : Police on July 22, 2019, evening, arrested former Bhojpur district President, Bahujan Samaj Party, Santosh Singh, of village Chavaria under Narayanpur police station and also seized his Bolero for allegedly raping two minor girls for about last six months after kidnapping them and also threatening them with dire consequences whenever they protested.

The family members of one of the two girls dragged Santosh Singh out from his Bolero near Fire Brigade under Nawada police station, Ara, in Bhojpur district, on July 22, 2019, evening, and handed him over to police. Both the girls were recovered from the Bolero. Later, police sent Santosh to jail after interrogation.

A named FIR has been lodged by Women’s police station against Santosh Singh under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant sections of the IPC. Police brought the two girls over to Ara Sadar Hospital for medical examinations and also produced them before an Ara Court to get their statement recorded under Section 164 of CrPC.

SHO, Women’s police station, quoting the FIR, said that Santosh Singh frequently visited a village under Udwantnagar police station and became friendly with family of one of the girls and came in contact with her. On July 18, 2019, Santosh Singh came to the girl and pressurised her family members to allow her to go with him.

Under pressure, the girl’s mother consented but the girl did not return home. Her family members searched for her and came to know that Santosh Singh was living at a rented house at Ekauna. They went there but the landlord said that he had removed  him due to his loose character and he left the house and went to Ara along with the two young girls in his black Bolero on July 22, 2019. Another girl is resident of a village under Charpokhari police station and was recovered by fluke when the family members of the girl from Udwantnagar PS were searching for her, the SHO said.

The two survivors informed police that Santosh Singh lived in a rented house at New Colony, Ekauna, and had kept both of them there and had been allegedly raping them almost daily for the last six months. Whenever they protested, he threatened them with dire consequences and said that he would kill their entire family members if they protested or dared to disclose the matter before anyone.
