Ara : Bhojpur police, on a tip off, arrested Baijnath Rai from Koelwar under the same police station on August 13, 2019, in connection with murder of a person during parliamentary elections to Ara constituency. Later, police sent him to jail after interrogation.
SHO, Koelwar police station, said that some armed miscreants had assaulted Malay Singh, a BJP supporter of Rajapur village under Koelwar police station, with rifle butt and killed him at his village district on poll day on May 19, 2019. An FIR was lodged with Koelwar police station against 14 named and 20 unnamed persons and police had arrested four named accused the same day but 10 named accused were absconding. With the arrest of Baijnath Rai, the number of arrested named accused in the murder increased to five.
The SHO said that on August 8, 2019, police had moved a petition in the court for issuance of attachment of property of the ten absconding named accused and pasted proclamation notices (Ishtehar) on the walls of their houses including that of Madho Rai, Lal Babu Rai, Baijnath Rai, Guddu, Bhagedan, Nand Ji, Mogal, and Bramdeo Rai on August 10, 2019.
